Nowadays, families who are well off tend to send their children to study abroad because it has a lot of conviences to develop their future. Beside those advantages, study abroad still has its bad points, and make many people worry about when they intend to take a study trip.
First thing first, study abroad means that you have to adapt to a new culture. Food and drinks in that country may not fill your senses, in that case you just can eat ramen in somedays or weeks. They may have some weird praxis that you have never heard about and effect your study. It will be very bad if you break the rules carelessly.
Secondly, racial discrimination. If you are asian and you go to a west country, this may happen to you. They can say something like "Oh, you can see me by those little eyes?" or "What a bad student, such an asian." and do violence to you. Stay strong and don't let them be an obstacle to your life. Try your best to prove that you're not what they said.
Thirdly, many overseas students have to live alone because they don't have relatives in that country. Your parents won't be their to do the housework, you have to do it yourself :the cooking, the laundry, the cleaning... and you can only communicate with your parents and friends by social networks like Facebook, Skype or FaceTime. Beside homesickness, you have to make new friends, attend groups. Study abroad means you have to be self-motivated, if you're not, you had better stay in your country.
Latstly, study abroad costs a lot of money. If your family are rich, it will be okay, but for students who got scholarship, it may not enough, you have to do part-time job after studying at school, or borrow money from banks. It's troublesome when you don't have time to relax or fall into debt.
It's very hard but in return you will get wonderful time that not everybody can have it. Those disadvantages are problem for everyone when they study abroad. It will make you stronger and more mature, help you to prepare for your future.
