DISADVANTAGES OF STUDYING ABOARD - Pham Hien Linh

There is an irrefutable fact that more and more students tend to study aboard, which has many benefits such as well-education, advanced learning techniques, getting well-paid job and living in a rich and happy life in the future or something else like that. I think maybe all students in Vietnam will leave their country and go to other countries for better education but for its disadvantages.

The greatest drawback of studying aboard is communicating with foreigner. If a student good at English but does not practice speaking much, it will be very difficult for him to talk to people there. He cannot be given a help when he get lost, when he wants to buy foods, clothes and many other situiations like that. Especially, he cannot understand what the teacher say in the lesson. Then, he can feel boring and studies worse than he did in Vietnam.

Another its weak point is the cost. It includes not only the tuition fee but also daily expense. Normally, students often choose a developing countries to study aboard, so the cost is very expensive. For example, one US dollar almost equal to twenty two thousand VND, one Euro almost equal to twenty four thousand VND and so on.

Finally, studying aboard makes students feel sad and homesick. Studying abroad is hard because everything is new and you don’t have your familiar safety net of friends and family. Also, they will have difficulty in making new friends if they are not good at speaking English or bad at communication. Thus they can feel lonely in the school that they had chosen to study.

To sum up, difficulties in studing in a foreign country is inevitable. Therefore, if you really dream to study aboard, you have to try your best to learn English and learn the way to get used to the independent lifestyle.
